What is The Matrix?

The world as we know is on the verge of a major shift in technology. Imagine being able to experience sunset and sunrise from Moon, travelling the whole world while sitting on your couch, sitting next to your favourite celebrity, have all the navigation and personal information laid out on an HUD (head-up display) in front of you. All of this is possible now! With the dawn of the true first generation of Virtual Reality (VR) headsets from Google’s Cardboard, Samsung’s GearVR, Facebook’s Oculus Rift, Valve’s HTV Vive and Sony’s PlaystationVR etc. along with Microsoft’s and Meta’s augmented-reality glasses you can live your wildest fantasies. The virtual reality technology is here but not evenly distributed and our aim at IRA is to bring it to masses and bring together the community which can channel the power of technology and create amazing stuff!

Imagine being able to move in the virtual worlds and acquire new skills in a matter of hours from the best people in the industry, being able to explore and learn about various cultures and arts in the first person, being able to interact with people sitting in different continents like they are actually there! Sci-Fi authors had been imagining of this technology for decades, movies like The Matrix, Tron and Ghost in the Shell and Novels like Ready Player One, Snowcrash reflected upon the same and tried to describe how it actually feels like to live in such a world. We had been imagining of Time Machine or how does it feel to live in someone else’s boots for so long and IRA can make it happen with your love and our shared passion to make virtual reality a reality!

Today we are releasing IRA for android and over the course of next months we would be publishing articles that will help explore, how everyone can create/capture virtual reality content and how can they showcase their work using IRA.

As Lao said “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” we are starting our journey with this first blog post and would love to hear your thoughts and feedback!
